This question, at least in part, ties into one's beliefs and philosophy of life and whether or not you believe in the notion that people have lived and experienced past-lives. Personally, I do not believe in past lives, but it could be childhood memories if they have experienced trauma and conflict. However, the real trauma might NOT be contextually the same as when the event occurred i.e. physical abuse from parents may be recalled as being abducted by aliens, based on suggestion or other information provided by the hypnotist during the session i.e. were you abducted by aliens, etc. In hypnosis, ...
