Using the simplex method in mathematics
Not what you're looking for?
Mark, who is ill, takes vitamin pills. Each day he must have at least 16 units of vitamin A, 5 units of vitamin B1, and 20 units of vitamin C. He can choose between pill 1, which costs 10¢ and contains 8 units of A, 1 of B1, and 2 of C; and pill 2, which costs 20¢ and contains 2 units of A, 1 of and 7 of C. How many of each pill should he buy in order to minimize his cost?
Let Pill 1 = Y1
Let Pill 2 = Y2
Minimize (cost) W= .1Y1 + .2Y2
Subject to:
8Y1 + 2Y2 ≥16
1Y1 + 1Y2 ≥ 5
2Y1 + 7Y2 ≥ 20
I am stuck here. Not sure if I am on the right track or not.

IN looking at the procedures listed below, PLEASE refer to the attached excel file so you MAY see where the listed CELLS are. STEP 7 is ONLY a LABEL. This label is the number of pills for Pill 1 and Pill 2 that Mark NEEDS to TAKE.
To solve the problem, YOU EITHER use an LP PROGRAM (I used SOLVER) or TRIAL and ERROR.
TRIAL and ERROR is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. Anyway, you start with ...
