SOLUTION This solution is FREE courtesy of BrainMass!
8x + 3y = -4 ----(1)

3x + 4y = 10 ----(2)

Multiply (1) by 3 and (2) by 8 and then subtract one from the other to eliminate x.

(1)*3 ===> 24x + 9 y = -12 ---(3)
(2)*8 ===> 24x + 32y = 80 ---(4)

Now (4)-(3) == > 23 y = 92 which gives y = 92/23 = 4

Substitute this value of y in (2)

3x + 4*4 = 10

3x = 10-16 = -6 which gives x as -2

Solution x = -2 and y = 4
