Find the volume of a cube given the surface area.

A cube has a surface area of 54 square inches. If the length of each side is tripled, the what will the volume of the cube be?

Solution This solution is FREE courtesy of BrainMass!

The surface area is 6*S*S, where S is the length of the side of the cube, therefore solve S by
6S^2=54, we have S=3.
If S is tripled, then S'=9, and therefore the volume is S^3=9^3=279(CUBIC INCHES)
