On average 2 out of every 50 CD's in a shipment are defective. Mrs. Synder brought 600 CD's for her store. How many would she expect to be defective?
Solution:
Let the number of defective CD's be x then
2/50 = x/600
Cross-multiply
1200 = 50x
x = 1200/50 = 24 CD's
She expects 25 CD's to be defective.
