    we have 2x + 8 <= -16 + 8x

    Dividing throughout by 2

    x + 4 <= -8 + 4 x

    x + 4 + 8 &lt;= 4x

    Or, x + 12 - 4x <= 0

    or, 12 - 3x <= 0

    again 12<= 3x

    or, 4 <= x

    Thus the inequality is true only for values of x greater than or equal to 4.
