In reference to the most effective way to police diverse communities, the consensus that exists is that diverse policing requires for police to develop a cultural understanding of all the cultures within their community that they are responsible for providing services to and for. Community outreach to these communities is mandatory as members of diverse communities need to feel that police have their best interests at heart and are committed to protecting and serving their interests. Therefore, the police organizations that actively seek to forge relationships with these communities and community leaders from these communities will have the most probable success in effective policing within diverse communities. In New York during the 70s and 80s, communities that had diversity witnessed police finally begin to reach out to organizations such as the NAACP and La Raza to gain perception on the issues that most concerned these communities and their citizens. ...
