    According to Blackburn, Fowler, Mullings & Marquart (2011), prisons were designed by men for men. It makes sense then that male correctional officers in a women's prison have a definite patriarchal paradigm wherein the female inmates are under the firm control of the male correctional officers (Blackburn, et al., 2011).
