Correctional officers, also known as detention officers, are responsible for overseeing individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial or who have been convicted of a crime and sentenced to serve time in a jail, reformatory, or penitentiary. It is a responsible position that involves handling criminals and inmates serving sentence in the jail.

The primary role of correctional officers is to ensure order and security and enforce the policies and rules of the institution where they work. Officers observe actions and oversee task assigned to inmates in order to make certain inmates are obeying the rules. As part of their supervisory role, correctional officers make written and oral reports on inmate work and behavior. They also document conflicts, behavior discrepancies, hazards, and suspicious circumstances in a daily log and other specialized reports.

Some of the desirable features of correctional work that I would like to convey to the candidates are:

1) An individual working in the correctional work area contributes towards the society by working for a noble cause of ensuring peace, security in the correctional facilities.

This desirable feature will motivate many patriotic college graduates and other young citizen who wish to give back to the society and the country and command respect in the society by working for a noble cause.

The recruits will convey this feature to the prospective candidates by highlighting the data related to increasing crime rate and number of prisoners in the country and then showing the importance of the correctional facilities and role of correctional ...
