    After the fall of the German Empire at the end of World War I, the Weimar Republic emerged to lead Germany in the 1920s and early 1930s. This government was democratically elected republic which faced several significant obstacles. These obstacles made it very difficult for the government to secure the support of the German people.

    The first obstacle was related to the Treaty of Versailles.
