First of all, as you assess what do we mean if we say human beings can construct meaning from their environment (rather than simply absorbing information exactly as it is presented), I know from advocating and using this pedagogy as a teacher for 12 years that it means that students actively and often collaboratively analyze, find, interpret, discuss, and interact with content in our curriculum, not simply regurgitate facts or dates from a textbook or a teacher's lecture.
