DI can work well in failing communities but all members must subscribe to the theory and participate. Sometimes people don't care to have mandated ideology, especially if the tone of the environment has been different. But research will show that DI and PLC has effectiveness, even though despite research, not all theories work everywhere. Differentiated instruction, however, is an ideal philosophy because society is different now with more special education mainstreamed into classrooms, gifted, and bilingual children. The school of the past in the white suburban neighborhood still exists but in fewer and fewer places.
