    Of course, I've worked in schools where the students make designs in the score sheets, to deliberately fail, whereby the teachers look bad, which is their full intention.

    Content in state standards is basic information and schools/students/families that really put forth the effort can master the content and then some. Students very young can understand the purpose and value of the energy and performance required.
