1. When a student has a violent temper tantrum, you must get an authority figure who is higher than you or trained in this area to help. You cannot risk the safety of yourself or others or the safety of the student having the tantrum. It is best to call for help through a PA system, or ask a responsible student to go get the principal. Then, try your best to talk the student having the tantrum out of his behavior by using calming words, "I know you are upset. Please try to calm down and we can talk about this." If this does not work, the authority figure will have to find a way to restrain the child and remove them from the classroom.
