Students respond to the various teaching-learning strategies that teachers conduct in the classrooms. In an elementary classroom, there are various ways that students can manifest their understanding and responses to literature.
There are two basic approaches in the teaching of literature. One is the Reader Response wherein the emphasis is on the integrated experience of the children and their individual responses are more important than learning the formal knowledge and structure of the text. The other approach is the Structural Analysis which teaches the children the various ways to learn the terms and concepts so that they can better interpret and talk about the literary text.
