There are multiple ways an early childhood teacher can become a multicultural person and share that with students and the community. The first is to learn a few children's' songs in a foreign language and teach them to your students. All of theses materials can be found in the series "French for children" at the major bookstores or Amazon. Versions are available in Spanish and German but may also be available in Japanese, Chinese, Arabic or Russian. A second way to become multicultural is to create unit on celebrations. You could look at how major holidays are celebrated around the world and even bring in culturally diverse members of the community to speak to children about how the holiday is celebrated in their home countries. Students could engage in arts and crafts of the country and possibly sample foods special to that holiday. the classroom could have a Tannenbaum to represent the German Christmas tree tradition and the children could decorate their room's tannenbaum as it would be done in German speaking countries. To look at Franc, you could create a creche or nativity diorama learn Christmas carols in French, etc or put shoes out for small holiday gifts. you ...
