    The Social Story is a commonly used strategy that has been developed to help individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) understand and therefore respond appropriately to specific social situations. The strategy was devised by Carol Gray (1994, 1995, 1996) to help individuals with ASD to understand and appropriately follow specified social protocol. Social Stories address the who, what, where, when and why of any given social situation (Gray, 1996), allowing the acquisition of new social skills and improving existing ones (Gray & Garand, 1993). Social Stories have been used to help individuals with ASD adjust to change, understand what other people are thinking or feeling, as well as teaching specific social skills as alternatives to problem behaviours .
