STRATEGIES AND APPROACHES EMPLOYED BY THE U.S. TO COUNTER-TERRORISM
Strategies and approaches used by the US to counter terrorism include global engagement to counter terrorist threats. Close coordination leads to synergies among the Departments of Homeland Security, Justice, Defense, Treasury, and Intelligence Community to counter-terrorism. Specifically, these translate into stronger border security, aviation security, and law enforcement. Other strategies include improved crisis response, global information sharing, and counter-violent extremism. The US takes steps to reduce fanaticism, and radicalization (1). The Department of State uses the strategy of foreign assistance and diplomatic engagement to address terrorist threats. The US pressurizes states that harbor terrorists, treat terrorists with severe sentences, and takes practical measures to stop, arrest, and penalize terrorists. For example, terrorists who plan attacks in the US are apprehended before they attack and are sentenced to lengthy terms in prison.

IDENTIFYING AND ASSESSING THE TERRORIST THREAT
The Federal Movement constantly updates its electronic records when a terrorist threat is identified. If there is an international terrorist he is confronted by an agent and his international dimension is verified. The government also approaches and works with individuals, families, and the local community to identify domestic terrorists. Online terrorist recruitment materials are used by agents to identify potential terrorists and assess them. For example, the agents identify the users of online recruitment material and evaluate the threat of these persons acting violently. The process is improved by ensuring that every office of the US Attorney has the training, expertise, and guidance required to identify and assess domestic terrorism to its fullest. The Federal government has prepared a toolbox for Joint Counterterrorism-Assessment Team First-Responders for State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies. The Mobilization Indicators booklets make it relatively easy for Local and State law enforcers to identify and assess terrorist threats.

CAUSES AND RESPONSES TO TERRORISM
The causes are a mix of factors such as historical, economic, cultural, technological, political, and motivational factors. For example, a terrorist from a poor background may be motivated to terrorism because of the immediate death of a family member because of US operations. The causes of terrorism include background conditions, facilitating circumstances, and precipitating factors (2). The final causes of terrorism are listed as Islam, inequality, poverty, psychopath mentality, technology, and energy. Ultimately radicalization must take place.

PREVENTING TERRORISM THROUGH INTERDICTION AND INVESTIGATION
One of the key strategies of the US in preventing terrorism is to identify suspects and probable terrorists on borders and entry points and deny them entry. Also, both domestic and foreign threats of terrorism are studied and analyzed (3). Trends and trajectories are generated by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. These are supported by information received from National Counterterrorism Center. The analysis helps stop foreign terrorists from entering the United States and continue tracking domestic terrorists. Also, data from territorial partners are analyzed which helps identify and disrupt terrorists. Individuals and organizations that support and nurture terrorism, are identified by investigators and are prosecuted. At the same time, the Federal Government strives to ...
