Complaints of discrimination also lead to disgruntled employees. There is frustration and anger. Devaluing discrimination can make employees feel resentful and helpless. Further, if discrimination leads to employees quitting the workplace the employer must spend money to recruit and train replacements (1). This increases the cost of doing business. It is seen that in those workplaces where there is discrimination against employees, there is high turnover of employees. This harms the morale of employees. There are several direct effects of discrimination complaints. These include absenteeism, excessive stress, and nee to take medication to reduce stress/anxiety. Each of these have a negative impact on productivity.

2. Complaints of discrimination in the workplace lead to negative outcomes. These complains lead to poor work atmosphere. Discrimination leads to an environment of mistrust, suspicion, resentment, hostility, and rivalry among the workers, and formation of cliques. The result is negative vibes, harmful relationships at work, and break down of free flow of information. Team work breaks down and smooth functioning of the firm is harmed. Complaints of employee discrimination mean loss of focus and wasting of time for employees in general. Such complaints not only affect the victim but also the other employees, who take time and attention from core activities and concentrate of discrimination. The word relating to discrimination spreads and adversely affects the company's relationships with its customers. Customers having affinity with the victim avoid the company's products/services. Discrimination complaints adversely affect employee performance. The employees feel unworthy, lose self-esteem, and feel that advancement opportunities are lost. On the macro-economic level, discrimination leads to higher unemployment as some people are not employed because of discrimination.

3. New policies related to discrimination areas are developed and distributed to employees. There are several reasons for these. First, there are three major Federal EEO/AA laws that must be complied with. These laws are The Civil Rights Act, the Equal Pay Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. These laws legally protect employees from workplace discrimination. These laws provide a framework for the new policies (2). Discrimination complaints mean that managers have to spend considerable time responding to a discrimination complaint. Further, there if there is a complaint there is need to hire an attorney to investigate and draft a response. This can affect the finances of the company adversely. The problem is that if the company is found guilty by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of discrimination it may require the company to take several steps which can harm the work environment and the reputation of the company.
