Alternative Design Strategies
There are three distinctive strategies to effectively design E-commerce in businesses that are presented by successful e-players. Two alternative design strategies for ice-cream parlor are as below:
Process Redesign:
First alternative design strategy for Ice-cream parlor is to process redesign. In this strategy, ice-cream parlor will re-design their overall business process in order to attain competitive advantage over competitors, to provide better customer services and an effective bundle of product or services. To implement this strategy in an effective manner, it is important that a company understand about the economies of an industry. With the help of this strategy, companies can eliminate those processes from regular business cycles that are unproductive for them and can attain lower cost position in the industry (Fazlollahi 2002).

To computerized sales within each parlor and between both parlors, both parlors redesign their sales processes by developing a virtual market place for distributions, so that they can purchase directly from their suppliers (Yang 2006). It will help both ice-cream parlors to reduce their cost of sales as well as their cost of purchase. Use of E-commerce for managing both sales system and inventory management will help both ice-cream parlors to manage their transportation and carrying costs associated with these transactions that further help in improving ...
