Water as a base
Is H2O always the base, for example in the following:
SO4^2- + H2O --> HSO4^- + OH^-
I said SO4^2- is the acid and H2O is the base
for CH3COOH + H2O --> CH3COO^- + H3O^+
I said...CH3COOH is acid and again H2O is the base ?
