When the following equation is balanced, the coefficients of BaO2 is?

The key point in balancing equations is that the number of atoms of each element must be the same on either side.
_BaO2-> BaO+ _O2
right side has 3 oxygen and one barium now, but on the left, only 2 oxygen and one Ba
so we will try multiplying the left with 2.
2BaO2-> BaO+ _O2
to balance the number of Ba on the right, multiply it also with 2
2BaO2-> 2BaO+ _O2
Now count the number of atoms,
4 oxygens and 2 barium on the left and the same number on the right.
So the balanced equation is 2BaO2-> 2BaO+ O2
Coefficient of BaO2 is 2 -- ans
