1. The federal government's role is to unite the states and resolve issues that states cannot resolve amongst themselves. It also provides for a consensus on certain laws in order to uphold the constitution of the United States and the principles upon which this country was founded. It helps the system by giving it a central line upon which states can rely to resolve issues and bring forth unified laws for all states to follow. In terms of child support, the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (Administration of Children and Family Services) has a parent locater service to make sure that if there are parents who are trying to neglect paying child support, that everything is done to find them.
