The purpose of Performance Measurements in project management is to determine if projects are accomplishing their objectives. If projects are not accomplishing their objectives, then Performance Measurement can be used to implement changes and then measure the effectiveness of those changes.

The type of performance measurement selected, depends on the type of project, the business of the company, the strategy of the company and the audience the measurements are being presented to.
