I might be interested in buying running shoes to wear while I begin my running program to get in shape for the New Year. Running shoes should be comfortable to cushion the feet, stay on the feet securely and provide reliable traction against slipping. If the shoes slip off the feet while running due to slippery laces or cause the wearer to slip and fall because they do not provide adequate traction, the wearer can possibly sue the manufacturer and hold them liable for a defective product that caused injuries.

Product liability law holds manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and vendors liable when their dangerous or defective products cause personal harm or destruction of property to the consumer. Product liability laws protect consumers from such dangerous goods and can hold any of the above parties accountable for putting a subpar product in the marketplace while having been fully aware that the product had safety problems or when they should have been aware of these safety problems (Morgan and Morgan, 2008).

The management of the running shoe manufacturing company should therefore have quality testing in place for every stage of the shoe production to assure that no defects exist that can cause an injury to the wearer's foot or that can cause the wearer to fall and sustain injuries as a result.
