American culture is known all over the world, though it seems indefinable. There are three major ideals to the American culture:freedom, independence, arrogance. All of these are part of the reason so many people wish to move to America from areas that are oppressed.

The attitudes and beliefs are based on many different ideas, but they are refined and become part of the American attitude. Americans have the rights, no matter where they are, entitled to them through the Constitution. Fairness and supporting the underdog are two national attitudes. "United we stand and divided we fall" carries a lot of weight as well. Attitudes such as "we can achieve," belief in civil liberties, freedom of speech and to carry arms, to have things, to have a home, to be happy are all American. American beliefs include freedom of choice, though what choices are under debate in many areas. Other areas are the push of science, again as long as it does not interfere with the religous choices of people, and in many areas such as protection of children, elderly, animals, and species. Many believe in the ethic of hard work gets people the things they want.
