The memo will help the board chairman to understand how cultural variables determine the company's strategies in getting success in the international market, particularly in India.

Cultural adaptation is very important for doing international business. To expand the business, the cultural variables of the country should be clearly understood. Barriers such as social, religious, educational, economical, political, language and motivational should be considered before doing business in India. Understanding religion is very important. It is also important to focus on individual variables such as time, dressing attitude, gestures and manners, etc. because they have a crucial impact upon the company's strategy, for example: issues related to time such as punctuality. Americans keep appointments at the agreed hour, but Indians may arrive late upon the agreed time. Indians dress conservatively while Americans do not ( Dotlich, Cairo & Rhinesmith, 2010). The language and the caste framework are important factors to be considered in expanding business in India as different states have different languages.
