Introduction

India is a developing country and is considered to be the eleventh largest economy of the world. If purchasing power parity is taken into consideration, then India can be ranked as the fourth largest economy of the world. Therefore, doing business in India would be very beneficial, although there are certain ethical issues which should be considered before entering India. Foreign organizations in India have to face certain issues like corruption and bribery. Therefore, before entering India, it is important to evaluate its ethical position.

Transparency International India

Indian corruption study, as released by Transparency International India is the largest study of corruption ever. According to the studies, police department is ranked highest in corruption followed by Judiciary and land administration. Government hospitals and electrical services are also corrupted. Kerala is the least corrupted state of India whereas Bihar is the most corrupted state followed by Jammu and Kashmir. The study shows that three fourth of the Indian public believes that corruption has increased, whereas only ten percent of the people think that corruption is on a decrease (India Corruption Study, 2005).
