When someone says "project management tool" the first thing that comes to mind is Microsoft Project. Microsoft Project is just one of the many tools available to and required by project managers. Your role as project manager requires you to use a variety of tools to help complete the project management process. The Marketing Manager has asked you to research and write about the various tools that are available to the project manager. Using the Library, the Internet, the text book and PMBOK, and any other materials locate and read articles on other project management tools. Describe the basic tools used by a project manager and relate these tools to applications such as Excel, MS project and other packages that are used to automate the project management processes.
Objective:

All projects go through a series of stages during its life regardless of scope or complexity. Project activities must be grouped into phases in order for the project manager and the core team to plan efficiently and organize resources for each activity, and in addition objectively measure achievement of goals and justify their decisions to move ahead, correct, or terminate the project.
