My technology innovation would be an automated system where the receptionist or medical assistant automatically pushes a button in the computer when the doctor is running late for his next visit that lets the next patient know, with an automatic approximation of how late. If the assistant pushes A on the computer, it lets the next patient know that the doctor is running 15 minutes behind schedule, if the assistant pushes B, it lets the patient know that the doctor is running 30 minutes behind schedule, and so forth. Most doctors have their patient schedules in a computer already, which allows the receptionist to schedule the visits accurately when patients call in, so it would be as simple as adding an additional software program and an automated dialer with a pre-programmed, recorded message.
