The article focuses on analyzing the online experience for students' who attend online learning courses to ascertain these students' views on work-life-balance. Researchers' focused on graduate students in business courses and included 302 graduate students in their research study. Qualitative coding was used by researchers to allow students to drive the research using their own observations and perceptions of the online learning experience with content analysis focused on deducing the student's perception of quality education when comparing online learning to traditional brick-and-mortar in-class learning.

This research study focused on the work-life balance of diverse populations of doctorate students who were enrolled in both full-time and part-time programs online as well as on-campus. Researchers chose students majoring in a wide array of disciplines to develop a comprehensive data bank on doctorate students' views of work-life-balance. This data consisted of three variables including quality of life, mental health, and physical health with these representing the internal variables whereas external variables included program climate, sources of support, and environmental stressors. Researchers posited the use of border theories to address well-being and work-life balance for doctorate students on large public university campuses.

This research article focused on PhD students in postdoctoral training to ascertain the efficacy of an online learning portal and program designed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The researchers wanted to understand what motivated PhD students to become motivated online learners capable of successfully navigating the work-life-balance. The researchers hypothesized that students who were capable of identifying barriers for online learning would be able to overcome these barriers and successfully obtain their PhD online. Researchers had to first identify these barriers, which included issues such as conflict with their research responsibilities, reluctance to try online learning, and other significant barriers that would inhibit engagement with online learning in postdoctoral training programs.

This research article sought to elucidate upon the work-life-balance theories that are found throughout the research literature by conducting a systematic literature review and examining the different theoretical frameworks that have been developed for work-life-balance theories. Some of the theories analyzed in the research included segmentation theory, spillover theory, and compensation theory among other theories. Some of the most prominent theories are discussed including border theory in detail as well as the underlying tenets of these theories on work-life-balance.
