Chapter two gives the doctoral student a lot of insight into most of the things we should be doing as we prepare for the dissertation process. The main areas discussed revolve around coming up with a research topic, exhausting the literature review, and establishing the context for the theory (Glesne, 2010). The author also describes the steps used to define one's purpose to conduct the research, the research question, and the statement (Glesne, 2010). The author also gave really good advice as to establishing the best site to conduct the research, ways of selecting participants for the study, and the techniques that will be employed to conduct the study (Glesne, 2010). This chapter touched on the importance of establishing oneself as a credible research student and how to establish a framework for the amount of time the entire project will take (Glesne, 2010). And finally, Glesne (2010) told us how to summarize our projected research, which will be use to validate us to our prospective subjects of studied. Author Glesne (2010) brought focus to the helpful tool that's called a pilot study. All in all, it is understood that there are plenty of duties one should address as we prepare to take this doctoral journey.
