The thinking pattern of President Trump has been described as dogmatic. He was perceived by many people as closed-minded, clinging obstinately to ideas, and inflexible. His personality has been described as dominant. Moreover, his temperament was excitable, irritable, and showed hostility. President Trump's self-image is described as forthright, bold, and unsentimental. Some of his ardent supporters have described him as honest, realistic, and unflinching. President Trump's key ego-defense was isolation. He was able to disengage himself from the impact of his aggressive acts on others. Also, he did not exhibit sentimental objects.
