In one study reported by Gospel and Wood (2003), they found some astounding ethical differences on several dimensions. The results were variable, but for the most part supported better work environments for the unionized as opposed to non-unionized workplace on the following dimensions:
1. Have more equal opportunity policies e.g. formal equal opportunity policy for gender, statistics collected on posts held by gender; monitor promotions held by gender; review selection procedures to identity indirect discrimination; measure the effects of equal opportunities policies on workforce. These anti-discrimination policies have a positive impact on morale; workers who fell safe and respected have a higher morale than those who are not respected and discriminated against have a low morale, low motivation and productivity.
