Inventory levels should be evaluated and forecasted on the basis of past repairs and experience. Establishing better communications with other departments would be very helpful in controlling adequate inventory levels, especially the quantities/types of special parts. Inventory control systems need to be evaluated, and demand and lead times need to be more predictable.
