In introducing new products,
1. Meditech has faced the problem of forecasting. It has not been able to forecast accurately the demand for products.
2. There were shortages with every introduction. Moreover, the introduction of new products is distorted by panic ordering from dealers and affiliated. This distorts the demand and creates the impression that the demand consistently exceeds supply.
3. Delivery problems have cropped up in the past and these problems induce the dealers to place panic orders.
4. The new product demand showed a distinct pattern but the supply showed unpredictable variation. Most importantly the monthly forecasting was in disarray.
5. The customers were getting frustrated with Meditech because with every innovation there were delivery problems.
The problems related to all products are:
1. The finished goods inventory levels are very high. There is a scope for reducing the inventory levels by at least 40% without adversely affecting the delivery schedule.
