A team comprises any group of people or animals linked in a common purpose. A group in itself does not necessarily constitute a team.
The capacity to manage human intellect - and to convert it into useful product and services - is fast becoming the critical executive skill of the age. Companies with strong cultures can indeed be very creative, but within predictable boundaries: say; learn marketing or imaginative engineering. When the market demands that such companies innovate in different ways, they have to learn new ways of coping with the challenging demands. They have to work in teams for the holistic effort.
Teams have always been a key factor responsible for the development of any organisation, be it a business organisation or be it a trust or a charitable organisation or be it an essential service like hospitals and education or be it the functioning of governments. In fact a lot of International development and understanding is achieved only through a sense of team spirit among various countries.

A team represents a group of people as a single entity. Irrespective of the number of people, be it two or two hundred, it is referred as one entity.
