Write a brief 300-450-word summary of your SIM results including an assessment of your learning¿s in relation to current or past work experience.
Next, prepare a 300-400- word response for each of the following questions:
a. What is the impact of specific activities targeted at a small group within the organization (e.g., like baggage handlers) on the rest of the organization's employees? Consider issues of fairness, specific job duties, organization morale.

b. How can an organization convey that it is stringent about its policy on sexual harassment?

c. Can a performance appraisal system proved effective at one organization be duplicated for another organization with the expectation of similar results? Why or why not?

You should incorporate your learning from the SIM material in each response and properly source that material. You should also include a minimum of one citation per response from three different scholarly sources including the reading assignments, Internet articles, Electronic Reserve Reading (ERR) articles, and/or HR journal articles to support your assertions

This is an original work and has not been previously published or shared with any other source. This work is to be treated as a guideline to assist you with this assignment. At no time is it intended to be a final submission work and I discourage you from using it as such. Points made and topics discussed in this work should be researched further and validated by the student prior to utilizing it in their own work which will be complied for final submission to their schools.
Write a brief 300-450-word summary of your SIM results including an assessment of your learning in relation to current or past work experience.

Below is a brief summary of the SIM results. Any assessment of the learning in relation to work experience would have to be added by you personally as my work experience would be vastly different from yours and you will want to make the final submission a personal one.

The SIM offered 3 separate scenarios involving a small "gateway" airport in Texas. The first of which involved the compensation concerns of the baggage handlers. They felt that their compensation was not commensurate to the amount or type of work they were being asked to perform. The management of the airport developed and distributed a salary survey to the baggage handlers which yielded information designed to be used in a new compensation package offering. The following options were offered:
Remove, Keep or Increase
? Spot Cash
? Individual Performance Incentive
? Guaranteed Overtime Bonus
? Certificate of Achievement
? Customized Fitness-Training Program
? Savings & Investment Plan
? Health Insurance Plan

Introduce
? Individual Piecework Incentive
? Group Incentive
? Personal Loan
? Training Programs
? Accident Insurance Plan
? Paid Holiday
? Flying Points

After reviewing the results of the surveys it was clear that the baggage handlers were not particularly interested in several of the items and would not view them as valuable if offered. My choices were as follows:
Keep:
? Spot Cash
? Individual Performance Incentive
? Guaranteed Overtime ...

Team Motivation - Emotional Intelligence

You're on your way to motivating your team from a group perspective, but you're still having trouble connecting with your team as individuals. Your mentor reminds you of the concept of emotional intelligence and how it can enhance your leadership capabilities. So, as a first step, use the AIU Library to research emotional intelligence.

To recap, the five components of emotional intelligence, as described by Daniel Goleman (1998) are explained in the following:

* Self-Awareness: The ability to recognize and understand personal moods and emotions. It includes self-confidence, realistic self-assessment, and a self-deprecating sense of humor.
* Self-Regulation: The ability to control or redirect disruptive impulses and moods and the propensity to suspend judgment and to think before acting. It includes trustworthiness and integrity, comfort with ambiguity, self control, and openness to change.
* Motivation: A passion to work for reasons that go beyond money and status. A tendency to pursue goals with energy and persistence. It includes a strong drive to achieve, optimism even in the face of failure, and organizational commitment.
* Empathy: The ability to understand the EMOTIONAL makeup of other people. It includes expertise in building and retaining talent, cross-cultural sensitivity, and service to clients and customers.
* Social Skills: Proficiency in managing relationships and building networks and an ability to find common ground and build rapport. It includes effectiveness in leading change, persuasiveness, and expertise in building and leading teams.

TASK:

Write an e-mail to your mentor covering the following:

1. Evaluate your current or former manager on each of the five components of emotional intelligence. (This should be two paragraphs in length.)
2. How can you apply the principles of emotional intelligence to your current situation? (This should be two paragraphs in length.)
3. What can organizations do to help develop the emotional intelligence of their managers as well as other employees? (This should be two paragraphs in length.)

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
