I am preparing a presentation for work related to HR functions that could be used to illustrate human resources effectiveness using accident rates. I do not know enough about HR to understand how accident rates illustrate organizational effectiveness. Can you help? Introduction

Human resource management is concerned with managing people at work and also directing their actions to maximize both the personal and organizational goals (Gupta, 2007). Each year the employers all round the world loose around $132.1 billions due to injuries of the employees at work and also about 130,000,000 man-hours from the missed work. In order to reduce these inflated costs and to uphold the production in the organization, reducing the injuries in the place of work has been an enduring and challenging field of concern for organization's HR Department. These injuries may be caused as a result of any unsafe activity or act on part of employee or as a result of unsafe working conditions or defective plant or shop layout, inadequate ventilation, etc. (Mamoria & Gankar, 2002).
