The basic difference between management and leadership is that management is the process of planning, organizing and controlling organizational resources to achieve objectives whereas leadership is the process of guiding organizational employees towards achievement of organizational goals. Managers manage their "subordinates" by providing those instructions whereas leaders motivate and guide their "followers" by inspiring and guiding them in the right direction.
The managers at Dunkin Donuts are doing the routine tasks of planning for various processes, tasks and activities whereas the leaders at Dunkin Donuts are the ones that motivate and guide the employees to ensure that Dunkin Donuts maintains and grows its leadership and reputation in the donuts business.
