I have been tasked with creating a common size balance sheet by which each category on the balance sheet is expressed as a percentage of a company's total assets. I need to compare a particular firm to five of its peers. Although I have aggregated all of the pertinent data for each of the firms, I do not know what would be the best method for generating a peer composite. Naturally, I thought of the mean but it seems as though the outlying data from one large firm in particular might skew my overall results. Any guidance in this matter would be incredibly helpful. Please refer to the attached document. The data for each firm (to the right) corresponds to the category in column A.
