There are many practices that an individual can undertake to transfer the knowledge that they have to another, retain the knowledge that they learn, and apply the knowledge to concepts that they have and will utilize in the future. Practices might include, teaching the information in a classroom setting or in a workplace setting. The individual who has the knowledge would transfer the knowledge they have via verbal and written form. The students or employees would be asked to retain the knowledge by utilizing it and applying it in real life concepts and interactions in the workplace.

In the workplace, an employer or manager should consider creating and adapting a knowledge transfer plan. This plan would detail the steps necessary to transfer information to employees. This information would include: real life practices in the workplace, handouts, a mentoring process for employees, a procedural manual that will provide detailed steps for the knowledge you want to transfer to employees and have them retain).
