The jobs that exist today may be modified tomorrow as new technologies are introduced. For instance, as voice raiders replace typing, the jobs of secretaries could be reduced or could vanish. As advanced methods of recording data are introduced, the jobs of bookkeepers and accountants could cease to exist tomorrow. As automations of manufacturing facilities speeds up, factory workers, foremen, and supervisor jobs will cease to exist.
Businesses should plan for changes in technology, the speed with which changes are to be made in plans in response to market changes, and intense competition based on international trade and economies of scale. Specifically, businesses should plan to become more responsive to customer needs. In addition, they should be willing to and able to adopt the latest technology to remain competitive. They must plan to adopt the latest technology in marketing their products, financial accounting, inventory and supply chain management, communications, administration, and operations.
