There are several reasons why we need affirmative action, as a society. First, however, let's discuss affirmative action in its most basic form. Affirmative action is a set of procedures or guidelines that must be followed to prevent discrimination by employers. Affirmative action clauses also govern the same set of principles, rules, and guidelines in regards to education. Basically, a college or university cannot deny admission to an applicant based on discriminatory grounds.
The main reason why affirmative action remains necessary is because in our society, there will always be a percentage of employers who remain discriminatory.
