Wal-Mart Public Corporation of America runs a chain of stores globally. The three segments of Wal-Mart are Wal-Mart Stores, International segment and Sam's Club (Frank, 2006). Sam Walton founded the company in 1962, which is headquartered in the USA. Wal-Mart is one of the biggest retailers in all over the world. In present, more than 2.1 million employees are working in the company (Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., 2009).
Culture of Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart is a well known multinational corporation of the world and it has global presence. The company is operating in various countries of the world successfully by effectively managing its business operations and providing good organizational culture to the employees working for the organization (Corporate culture provides Wal-Mart competitive advantage, 2002). Different country has a different environment and at the international level, the company is able to manage diversity in an effective manner (Lichtenstein, 2005). The company focuses on the maintenance of its organizational cultural elements for the encouragement of its employee's performance (Frank, 2006).
The organizational culture of Wal-Mart is based on the organizational learning. The company promotes integrity within the legal and ethical framework of business. The organization culture mainly focuses on the system of rules, values, beliefs and shared activities that assist the managers in directing and controlling the employees of different culture (Organizational culture of Wal-Mart, 2007).
