Ethics Reflection in Strategic Planning
A few years back, business ethics and social responsibility was viewed by the businesses only in terms of compliance to administrative and legal standards and internal rules and regulations (Robbins & Sanghi, 2007). Today, the situation differs. Now the businesses and general public all round the world has realized that in order to achieve success, earning the confidence and respect of the customers is a must.
According to the Ethics Awareness Inventory, ethics can be described as the system of the moral principles and rule of conduct that guides the behavior of the people who live in the society (Fisher, 2008). Business ethics can be explained as the principles that organize the behavior of the employees as well as employers (Hartman, 2004). Every organization should develop its business activities without opposing the ethical boundaries. Business ethics determines the right and wrong actions of the business. It can be examined from different perspectives, including the commercial enterprise, the employee, and society as a whole (Posters, 2003).
Social Responsibility indicates the duty of the organization towards the society. It is an ethical and valuable ideology of the organization and its employees. Corporate social responsibility takes into account the accountability of the business towards entire society (Hartman, 2004). The practice of business ethics and social responsibility is required in the behavior of each organization as well its employee. It is important for the all the members of organization to follow the general principles for solving the various legal and ethical issues (Ethical Principles in Business Activities, 2008).
