Technology is the asset of many businesses. How can Amazon.Com, Airline websites and all other shopping websites have any credibility if the company's online business practices were unethical? These businesses would falter. Amazon.Com, and many other websites, state "Information about our customers is an important part of our business, and we are not in the business of selling it to others. We share customer information only as described below and with subsidiaries Amazon.com, Inc. controls that either are subject to this Privacy Notice or follow practices at least as protective as those described in this Privacy Notice." (Amazon 2009)

The business states clearly that it does not sell consumer information. This, to me, is an ethical standard that is of the utmost importance, as many websites do sell consumer information.

Consumers are also interested in website security to ensure that their credit card information is safe when making a purchase. This is an ethical standard that is protected by a secure source.
