Mission statement can be defined as described as what the organization is along with the purpose of its existence (Wheelan & Hunger, 2004). Mission statement defines the role of an organization, which it plays in a society. Mission statement is unique to every firm and defines the core values of the firm (Berry, 2009).
Vision statement shows what an organization wants to be. It articulates the position of a firm, which it expects to attain in future. Vision can be considered as a source of inspiration and optimistic view of the firm in future (Wheelan & Hunger, 2004).
It is necessary for the business organizations to have a critical thinking before developing mission and vision statements of the organizations.
Five criteria that are Crucial to Good Mission Statement
As the mission statement defines the organizational values and guide the organization to meet the objectives and targets, there should be some effective criteria to develop mission statements.
 The mission statement should contain all the information such as who we are, what we are, how do we serve others, who are our customers, etc. (Berry, 2009).
