Some factors that lead to short -term attraction and long-term attraction in a relationship include physical attractiveness, charisma, similarities in personality, and physical closeness. Other factors that lead to short-term/long-term attractiveness are the sharing of values, beliefs, and opinions with those whom one is attracted to. According to West and Turner (2010), people are attracted to others who fit the cultural ideal of attractiveness. However, they are more than likely to initiate relationships with others who match their own level of attractiveness. Based upon relationship experience, sometimes the things that attract you to someone in the short term may eventually not attract in the long term.
