The study is based on the topic that "Can Governments effectively prevent the formulation of monopolies or unfair practices of large corporations(1). The case of Microsoft". This study is a qualitative research that does in-depth study of the impact of government policy on the formation of monopolies, unfair practices by corporations, and inequality of wealth/income(2). In addition, this study also makes an in-depth study of the impact of new anti-trust laws by government and the impact of impartial implementation of anti-trust on formation of monopolies, unfair practices by corporation and inequality of wealth. The method used by this study is the focus group interview. It will help obtain detailed information, perceptions, and opinions. It will provide a broader range of information, provide opportunities to seek clarifications, and provide useful material for communication with stakeholders(6). The focus groups will be carried out in Minneapolis. The case of Microsoft points out the limitations of the government, however, this study shows that government policies, law, and action can be effective in preventing the formation of monopolies, unfair practices by corporations, and inequality of wealth/income.

Problem Statement
Without government intervention, the formation of monopolies and unfair practices of large corporations have harmed the interest of the consumer, and the society. Government intervention by way of policies, legislation, and implementation can effectively prevent the formation of monopolies and unfair practices of large corporations, however, crony capitalism, high market power, and lobbying by businesses prevents the government from taking effective measures. Conflict between the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice means weak implementation of existing laws. The formation of monopolies does not just have a negative impact on the consumers but also negatively affect the political, social, and ethical landscape (3). The need to reign in crony capitalism is so high that it is necessary to build constitutional structures to restrain crony capitalism. There is need for political will to help implement anti-trust laws effectively. There are areas in which the government has actually promoted monopoly. An example is that of the magazine industry in Britain. Similarly, in the publishing industry government intervention has led to a decline in unfair practices.
